Santiago Savi

Santiago Savi i(b. 1984) is a Mixtec painter born in Abasolo del Valle, Veracruz, with ancestral roots in San Juan Mixtepec, Oaxaca. Originally trained as an agricultural engineer, he later studied filmmaking at New York University and earned a Master’s degree in Art from the Instituto Cultural Helénico. Now based in Mexico City, Savi’s paintings, murals, and prints draw from Mixtec cosmology and visual traditions, frequently depicting Mother Earth, cornfields, animals, and textile patterns. His work has been exhibited widely in Mexico and the United States, with murals in cities including New York and Oaxaca, and is held in collections throughout Europe and the Americas.
